Street dogs on a Karachi roadside, where WARN-funded partners run catch-neuter-vaccinate-return camps

Street dog CNVR · from £5/month

Sponsor a Dog

From £5 a month. Pooled programme support abroad — not a named kennel or cattery pen. Cancel any time.

In brief

Sponsoring a dog with WARN costs from £5 a month and funds pooled Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return and rabies vaccination run by partner vets abroad — starting with Karachi, Pakistan. You do not get a named kennel dog, visits, or a pet to take home. Cancel any time. WARN is a CIC, not a charity, so this is not Gift Aid eligible.

Should you sponsor a dog with WARN?

Yes if you want monthly money to reach street dogs facing culling, rabies and neglect abroad, and you accept that the gift is pooled across a clinic programme rather than tied to one named animal. No if you wanted a UK kennel pen, a puppy to visit, or a tax-relief donation.

Most “sponsor a dog” searches expect a photograph, a name, and a pen you can visit. WARN’s live dog product is the opposite on purpose: your gift joins other sponsors so a partner team can return to the same streets, round after round. That is how CNVR works. One named dog in a British kennel does not stop a cull in Karachi.

Checkout is on this page and on the street-dog product at sponsor a street dog. Symbolic adoption at adopt a dog is the same partner-grant model with gift-certificate wording. One-off gifts sit on Karachi street dogs appeal. Pick the door that matches how you want to give — the dogs are funded either way.

What does sponsoring a dog actually fund?

It funds humane catch, neuter, vaccinate and return — plus rabies vaccine — through vetted partner clinics. It does not buy you a dog, a visit, or exclusive “ownership” of one animal’s story.

At WARN’s Karachi programme costs, £5 a month funds the equivalent of a rabies vaccination for 1 street dog every month. £12 covers 3 dogs a month. £30 funds the equivalent of one full CNVR surgery every 3 months. Those figures round down and come from published vaccination research plus WARN’s working surgery cost — they will move if field prices move.

Dogs are caught humanely, treated by a vet, marked so they are not caught twice, and returned to the exact street they came from. A neutered, vaccinated dog holds territory. Culling empties it and new dogs move in, which is why the World Health Organization is clear that killing street dogs does not control rabies or population.

Karachi programme equivalents, rounded down. Vaccination cost is published-research based; surgery cost is WARN’s working field figure.

How do you sponsor a dog, step by step?

Choose a monthly tier on this page, pay securely, and you get a digital certificate and programme updates. Email WARN if it is a gift. Cancel any time — there is no minimum term.

Step 1 — Decide monthly versus one-off. Monthly is what lets partners book the next camp before the last one ends. One-off is right for an urgent clinic day. Step 2 — Pay in GBP or USD at Stripe checkout. Step 3 — Keep the receipt. Request certificate wording if someone else should see their name on it.

If checkout fails, email [email protected] with the amount and monthly or one-off. Bank transfer with a receipt is available. Puppy searches and “sponsor a shelter dog” searches checkout the same way: there is not a separate puppy product, because the programme is population-scale CNVR, including young dogs.

What happens on a Karachi CNVR camp day?

A camp day starts before the heat does. Partner teams work the same few streets they have mapped for weeks, because the dogs there are known — which ones are pregnant, which are limping, which have already been ear-notched from a previous round.

Each dog caught is checked, sedated, neutered and vaccinated by a vet, then moved to a shaded recovery area and watched until it is steady on its feet. The ear notch goes in before it wakes. By evening every dog goes back to the street it was lifted from, and the map gets updated.

That repetition is the whole point. One camp does not fix a city; a programme that returns to the same streets, round after round, is what shifts the population and stops rabies spreading. Monthly sponsorship is what makes returning possible.

Who should skip sponsoring a dog here?

Skip this page if you need a dog in your home, a named kennel animal with photo packs, Gift Aid, or a US 501(c)(3) receipt. Those are honest noes. Local registered rescues and UK charities exist for the first three; WARN will not pretend to be them.

Skip if you will only give if you can visit the animal. Field CNVR is not a visitor site, and turning it into one would stress free-roaming dogs. Skip if you wanted WARN to route money to a specific UK shelter pen — we cannot. Skip if a film or a colour photo is the whole decision; wait a week and read the catches below.

A different gift may fit: adopt a dog for symbolic adoption language, monthly giving for general recurring giving, or your nearest registered rescue for a real pet. Walking away is allowed. Pages that cannot say no do not deserve a donation.

What are the hidden catches with dog sponsorship?

The catch is not the price. It is the mismatch between kennel-sponsorship marketing and what a CIC grant to a street-dog clinic can honestly promise.

  • The named-dog catch

You will not pick “your” dog. Pooling is what lets a camp treat whichever animal needs surgery that morning. Individual photo packs would misrepresent how the grant is spent.

  • The Gift Aid catch

WARN is a registered UK Community Interest Company (Company no. 17298990) and is not a charity, so it cannot claim Gift Aid. The donation case is transparent partner-led welfare where support reaches practical field needs.

  • The puppy catch

“Sponsor a puppy” through WARN still funds CNVR that prevents unwanted litters and vaccinates young dogs on the street. It is not a named pup in a UK pen and it is not export to your home.

  • The shelter-pen catch

UK shelter-dog sponsorship with window stickers and pen visits is a local-rescue product. WARN’s shelter language means emergency triage after catching or injury abroad, not a British kennel block.

How does sponsoring a dog compare with adopting or donating?

Sponsorship, symbolic adoption and a one-off appeal gift are three doors into the same street-dog work. Local adoption is a different job entirely — a pet in your house.

Does this work for UK and US donors?

Yes. UK supporters pay in GBP; US supporters can pay in USD at the same checkout. Neither route is Gift Aid eligible or US tax-deductible, because WARN is a UK Community Interest Company, not a charity and not a 501(c)(3).

UK kennel sponsorship and US shelter-pen sponsorship remain the right products if you want a named animal in your country. Use those local organisations. Use WARN when the point is street dogs abroad that will never be rehomed into a Western home.

This guide replaces separate thin UK and US “sponsor a dog” landing pages. The honesty is the same in both currencies: pooled programme support, digital updates, cancel any time.

What is the verdict — should you sponsor a dog today?

Sponsor here if the skip-if section still looks like your life after a week of thinking, and you want monthly money on the street rather than a named-pen story. Otherwise adopt locally, give one-off, or wait. The kind choice is the one you will not resent.

If the match is real, start on this page from £5 a month. If you wanted a single clinic day, use the Karachi appeal. If you wanted a pet, close this tab and phone a registered rescue. Dogs are not helped by a gift you cancel in anger when the photo pack never arrives — because it was never going to.

What do people ask before sponsoring a dog?

How do I sponsor a dog with WARN?
Use the checkout on this page from £5 a month, or sponsor a street dog. Pay in GBP or USD. You receive a digital certificate and programme updates. It is pooled CNVR abroad, not a named UK kennel dog.
Do I get my own dog to sponsor?
No. Sponsorship is pooled across the street-dog programme so partners can run a full camp. Naming one animal would misrepresent how the grant is spent. Local rescues offer pen sponsorship if that is what you want.
Is sponsoring a dog Gift Aid eligible or US tax-deductible?
WARN is a registered UK Community Interest Company (Company no. 17298990) and is not a charity, so it cannot claim Gift Aid. The donation case is transparent partner-led welfare where support reaches practical field needs. The same is true for US donors: WARN is not a 501(c)(3). Every pound still funds the clinic.
Can I sponsor a puppy or a shelter dog instead?
Same checkout. Puppy and shelter searches still fund CNVR and emergency triage abroad — not a named pup or a UK pen. For a pet in your home, contact a registered rescue.
What is the difference between sponsor and adopt a dog?
Same partner-grant model. This page uses sponsorship language; adopt a dog uses symbolic-adoption language and gift certificates. Neither places a dog in your house.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Email [email protected] and we will cancel your monthly adoption within two working days, with no penalty.
Which countries does dog sponsorship reach?
The live monthly product is Karachi street-dog CNVR. Symbolic dog adoption also supports partner work in the Philippines, India and Nepal. WARN does not invent programmes outside its funded network.
Can I visit the dogs?
No. CNVR camps are not visitor attractions. Visits would stress free-roaming dogs and burn money that should be vaccine and surgery. Support a local rescue if visits matter to you.
