Animal rescue work in South Asia is dominated by two needs: street dog population management through CNVR, and veterinary care for working equines. WARN funds partner-led programmes in the region, and WECare Worldwide runs CNVR and outreach clinics in Sri Lanka.

South Asia concentrates two animal welfare problems at a scale found almost nowhere else: very large free-roaming dog populations, and tens of millions of working horses, donkeys and mules whose owners depend on them entirely.
Both are tractable, and neither is solved by rehoming. Dog populations respond to sustained CNVR. Working equines respond to accessible veterinary care, better harness and owner education — interventions that keep the animal sound and the family earning at the same time.
