Registered Community Interest Company
World Animal Rescue Network CIC is a registered global not-for-profit animal welfare organisation in England & Wales, funding partner-led animal rescue worldwide.
What CIC Registration Means
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a type of limited company designed for organisations that use their profits and assets for the public good. CICs are regulated by the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies (the CIC Regulator).
World Animal Rescue Network CIC is listed as active. WARN is a not-for-profit company with a statutory asset lock that keeps assets dedicated to its community purpose.
Our Governing Document
WARN is governed by a written constitution adopted by the founding directors. The constitution defines our community purposes — improving animal welfare and supporting the communities whose health and livelihoods depend on healthy animals — the powers of directors, how directors are appointed and removed, and the rules for winding up the organisation. As a CIC, our assets are protected by a statutory asset lock, which means they must continue to be used for our community purpose. If WARN is ever wound up, any remaining assets cannot be distributed to directors or members; they will be transferred to another asset-locked body with similar aims — we have nominated World Animal Protection — as required by the CIC rules.
Director Accountability
WARN is governed by a board of directors who are personally responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates within the law, manages its finances responsibly, and delivers on its community purposes. Directors receive no payment for their governance role.
